Karen: let me start off by saying i listened to the album last night going over my notes for today and I loved it
chip interrupts: it's not bad, I like it
karen: it's got an all ages feel to it, ya know like something for everyone
chip: yeah we didn't go into it saying "hey lets make and album for our friends and our moms" but you know it just came out like that.
karen : so is it doing well?
chip : like sales wise?
karen: well yeah that and being accepted
chip : well as far as sales it's doing alright, but we are an unsiged band and it's not a get us signed album. it's selling enough to maybe get us into a situation to do another album and get better songs out. as far as being accepted, i really don't care, i mean it's the best unsigned album i have heard bar skin deep by resident hero, i mean everything else to me is just same ole shit, blah blah blah.
karen: so your not impressed with the bands today?
chip : no the bands and the scene are just going to the crapper
karen : why do you say that
chip : well i like to run my mouth and you've opened up a whole nother interview here...so i'll just shut my hole before i get us where we can only open for the family jambox before little timmy's "birthday bash bonanza".
karen : well you can't leave us hanging
chip : bottom line is I like guitars and melodys and people who can sing and write more than 1 song that sounds like all the others. not some trendy bull shit that a little band worked up before going to the club to practice. there are just too many bands that can't sing, can't play their instruments, can't write good songs, have expensive equipment, and just make up for it in peoples eys by wearing leather pants, or taking off their shirt or playing the newest freaggin CREED song, or worse ripping off the newest creed song.
karen : i sense a little anger in your words.
chip interrupts : no i'm not angry at the bands, i'm angry for the people that let it happen, and the promoters that put the bands together. some people like that kinda music which is cool, but look man don't come ask me to play it after you've heard a song off our album, i respect that music and i probably would buy the album, but i got songs that are better to me than those on any album and i'm trying to get people to listen to em! so that's why i just say those guys can just go screw themselves in my book. but i'm an ass bout music anyways.
karen : well you bring up an intersting point, but it's seems as if your just saying anyone other than 4minus1 is basically crap?
chip : no there are alot of decent bands out there, they just don't get a chance becasue of all the trendy bullshit that gets called rock n roll, but anyways that's all i wanna talk about that lets move on please.
karen : ok well your touring now how's that going
chip : well we just signed on with BOP. our buds resident hero are on with them and we expect them to do some good things for us. get us out to the people and let em get back into some rock n roll again.
karen : so can we look for you anytime soon
chip : yeah i think we will be in dallas near the end of the year and the beginning of next year. just look and listen for us
karen : ok so since i got the cd and listened to it, and i'm gonna see you guys live when you roll thru this area, what kinda thinks can i expect?
chip: all that depends on how much we've had to drink before the show. no it's a good show, we get into it somewhat, not enough to some and too much to others, but we just do what we feel like, our music is not that heavey so there is no need to be all emotional and faceforward type attitude. i think we're just loud rock mixed in with some pop songs and some ballads. we may play a few off the album, but the new stuff is just better and more full since we got john, but anyways, your gonna get songs you've never heard and hopefully some sorta stage show with some lights and 4 guys bouncing around on stage.
karen : so it's an innergetic show?
chip: well chris is not dave grohl on drums so he's not gonna break nothing, john is no peter framton, so he's not gonna talk and play guitar at the same time, i'm not freaggin angus young, i can barely move when i play guitar, but devin always moving so you can't yell at him for screwing up..
karen : sounds good i wil have to come and check it out maybe even do a review for the magazine
chip : sure if you like, just tell us so our manager can make us dress up and act like monkeys so we can get good press
